It was the second day of presentations. My classmates did a fantastic job; they put a lot of effort into the materials and the presentation. We also did some really cool activities that I'm sure the kids will love.

Lesson planning   is always important, but it is essential when teaching very young children, since this age group requires wide variety of short activities. Children will get bored if activities take too long. long and without necessarily meaning to, will start to disrupt your class. Get them standing and moving, then sitting and singing, then moving again. Craft Activities will also keep children involved. Try to provide individual and group working and playing time within the lesson. Encourage good interaction but also independent endeavour.   Your lesson plan helps you to keep track of the order in which you are going to do all these things, as well as giving you a place to jot down extra information you may need to keep in mind for an activity you are presenting for the first time. You can also make a note of materials you will be using at cach stage at your lesson. Finally, planning gives you an idea of the time each activity will take.     TIPS: Think about th...

Following the same format as yesterday, we continued with different presentations. In this case, they were individual, and each one had a specific topic. Mine is about how to teach children the different sounds of letters and which words they correspond to. https://www.canva.com/design/DAG1sDIr7QI/md6CsaOfyuO-Wl9nW6pixw/edit?utm_content=DAG1sDIr7QI&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

We have continued to discuss the topic 2. TEACHING TOOLS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOM 2.4. Songs WHY TEACHING WITH SONGS?  by   Larry M. Lynch Language teachers can and should use songs as part of their classroom teaching repertoire. Songs contain authentic language, are easily obtainable, provide vocabulary, grammar and cultural aspects and are fun for the students. They can provide valuable speaking, listening and language practice in and out of the classroom. Some key reasons songs can work exceedingly well in the foreign language classroom include the following: Songs almost always contain authentic, natural language This often contrasts the contrived, stilted language found in many student texts. Of course songs can also go to the other extreme by using overly crude, foul or otherwise objectionable language. With careful screening, an extensive library of usable songs for language learning can be compiled. A variety of new vocabulary can be introduced to stude...

In today's class we covered topics that will allow us to do activities later that can be useful for future projects. Our term ‘ very young learners ' refers to children   between the ages of three and seven , who are just setting out on their educational journey. They are still making the transition towards being part of a group and understanding the meaning and structure of their educational life. They may or may not attend school daily and many of them have not learned to read in their own language yet. Human beings start learning from the moment they are born and are naturally inclined to pursue activities which help them make sense of their world and their place in it. Play is central to this process, in that a child's desire to be doing things and choice of tasks is directly linked to how and what they need to learn.  Learning  at this age includes developing  fine motor skills  (for example, picking things up, colouring and cutting) and  gross motor s...
